BroadBand Light (BBL)

Your skin is exposed to all types of environmental and aging factors.  This exposure can cause our skin to manifest different qualities that make us look older than we are, or at the very least feel.  Age spots, wrinkles, and poor skin tone/texture are a result of this exposure.  Thankfully, we have modalities like the BBL that can help us treat all the signs of aging mentioned above with little to no downtime.

How does Broadband Light, more commonly called “BBL”, work?

We use Sciton’s BBL at Village Dermatology. The device is unparalleled by its counterparts in advanced technology, quality, safety, and consistency.  Our highly skilled, trained and experienced laser technicians will tune the BBL to the correct setting and use the band of light energy to target different skin conditions.  The heat generated from the light pulses will stimulate your skin cells to generate new collagen to replace the old skin cells in the treated area.

BBL also targets pigmented spots, vascular lesions, acne, age spots, and other skin conditions, making BBL a “best all around” in our armamentarium of anti-aging procedures.

Post Care

While we consider BBL a “no downtime” procedure, you may feel like or appear to have a slight “sunburn” after treatment.  This typically lasts 1-2 days if at all.  We strongly encourage all of our BBL patients to wear appropriate sunscreen for 2 weeks before and after your treatments.  Having an active tan will increase the risk of side effects and/or lessen results.
