Intense Pulse Light (IPL)

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) uses a broad spectrum of light which is primarily absorbed by melanin (browns) and oxyhemoglobin (reds). It’s an innovative treatment that treats the entire skin surface, leaving it looking younger and feeling smooth. The treatment is effective in reducing the appearance of sun damage, capillaries, pores, and fine lines.

While laser skin resurfacing uses a single wavelength of light to remove the outermost skin layer and requires a significant recovery period, IPL photorejuvenation uses different wavelengths of light to target areas beneath the skin. In the IPL treatment, the outer layer of skin remains practically untouched, and you’re able to get back to your life almost immediately!

Are you in need of Skin Rejuvenation services or is bothered by age, sun spots, broken capillaries or just the overall appearance of your skin?

As a pioneer in aesthetic medicine, Lumenis products are exceptional when it comes to photorejuvenation, and their products set the standards for rejuvenation treatments. Our Lumenis One IPL device provides treatment solutions designed to gently and effectively treat a wide range of skin conditions including:

    • Rosacea
    • Broken facial capillaries
    • Ruddy complexion
    • Spider veins on the face and chest
    • Facial sun damage
    • Age Spots
    • Sun-induced freckles on the hands, face or chest
    • Skin Tone

With each IPL procedure, we customize the treatment for different skin tones and conditions. We offer the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections, giving you a medical grade result by trained medical providers. All IPL treatments at Village Dermatology are performed by certified and experienced laser technicians who have been in the industry for years. Each treatment takes 25-50 minutes. With our customized treatment, there is no real downtime as some people have the procedure during lunch breaks. The treatment length may vary according to the patient, but 2-5 treatments at three weeks intervals will typically “do the magic”. In some cases, follow-up treatments are needed to correct new damage from sun and aging. After the treatment, it’s not unusual to experience a slight sunburn feeling for the first 24 hours. You’ll also notice brown pigment getting darker for the first week and then lifting away. The treatment is safe and is designed to give optimal results at the most reliable conditions.

We recommend 1-2 maintenance treatments per year. Some studies have shown long term anti-aging benefits when this simple and inexpensive maintenance plan is implemented.
