Dermaplane

What is Dermaplaning?

Performed by one of our trained aestheticians, a sterile, surgical grade blade is used to shave dead skin cells and consequently, vellus hair (also referred to as peach fuzz) from the face. After the procedure is finished, you will notice an immediate brightening of the complexion and a silky smooth feel.

Many providers feel dermaplaning is an effective way of removing the build-up of dead skin cells, and it allows skincare products to penetrate the surface of the skin easier for better absorption. It also provides a smoother surface for makeup application, helps diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and is completely safe for those pregnant and nursing. Best of all, dermaplaning temporarily removes unwanted facial hair and peach fuzz. Dermaplaning is often coupled with other facial treatments, such as chemical peels and HydraFacials, for optimal results. Despite what some may think, shaving the face does not cause hair to become coarse or grow more frequent.

What to expect?

Your provider will begin by cleansing your skin and conducting a skin care analysis. Once it is determined you are a candidate, your provider will prep your skin to remove all traces of oil and debris. Upon completion of the service, the aesthetician will cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin. Lastly, sunscreen will be applied and post care instructions be discussed. Dermaplane treatments are recommended every three to four weeks.

Contraindications (reasons the procedure may not be suited for some individuals) include but are not limited to acne prone skin, sunburned skin, skin with open lesions or active break-outs and individuals diagnosed with eczema and psoriasis.  Please be sure to wear your sunscreen daily after each session.
